Remembering Story Medicine is an evening of myth and folktales told in an old oral storytelling way. The evenings begin with a shared meal, where we meet and mingle and have the chance to form new connections, making new kin. Then we gather in the main space to hear the stories, and to speak aloud where we have been located by them, where our hearts have become resonant or stuck, inspired or unlocked.
These tellings often evoke deep feelings that we seldom get the chance to feel or express, even on our own, let alone in a room of strangers. And therein lies the medicine of these gatherings: they make kin out of strangers.
The gatherings conclude with an invitational ritual with fire or water, inside or outside, under the stars or moon, where we are invited to speak whatever words are there to be spoken into the water or the fire, as open secrets, as prayers, as poems, expressions of gratitude, as lullabies, as sacred speech.

This is one of my favourite community gatherings. The stories enliven my heart, whisper to my bones and have me wandering, wondering and remembering. All are warmly welcomed to this friendly, nourishing and sacred gathering. Vas Clementine shares stories with deep heart and dedication to the storytelling craft. He has gathered together a beautiful community of storytellers and story lovers. I am also very glad to sometimes share a story or two, with this special gathering of folk who know how to listen to the underneath of a story.
